Shadow Cliffs, Livermore CA
Fishing has been unreal! Started fishing on tuesday November 4th, and the next day, I decided to do it full time since I love it some much so, I fired the boss... Well, kinda. I don't start the new job until the 12th so I decided to fish as much as I could before I resume being an adult again. The past three trips I was dialed-in because I found where the trizout were hiding and it even got to the point where I was releasing the little ones because I thought there were bigger fish to adobo. The weather has been perfect and recently seems to be that rare time where you could catch trout and catfish. So within 5 days and an average of 6 hours per day on the water, I caught 9 trout, 2 catfish, and 6 or 7 released to be caught another day.
The fish you see in the picture has a hook jaw, is darker in color, and the color of his gill plate is brighter than that of the females.
You might also notice that I've grown out my mustache to emulate the Gordon's Fisherman...it works!

Shadow Cliffs, CA - Rainbow Trout 9.5lbs!!!
.jpg)
Decided to go fishing this easter sunday at shadow cliffs even though i got home last night from playing poker until 3am. I got there as early as i could to beat the easter crowd, and because the last few times i've gone fishing in the afternoon i did not even get a nibble. This is a 9.5lb, 27.5 inch rainbow trout i caught at 8am...my personal best. I used rainbow powerbait and cast out as far as i could using a 1 oz. weight. This was the only fish for the day until i left at 12:30...i figure the fishies might've gotten hungry again around 6pm or so when the sun's rays aren't so direct. i thought twice about keeping it because i thought it might not taste as good as a "normal sized" trout, but if i released it, i would've run the risk of not being able to corroborate my story. This trout is proof that most all fish can continue to grow indefinitely, but it's also proof that 4 pound test line is enough to land a bigger fish.

Shadow Cliffs, CA
A big storm was expected this weekend, but my wife and I decided to risk getting wet for some fun fishing. Fishing has been good from all of the lakes around us so every time we go out, I don't expect anything except catching enough trout to stock our freezer for some fun eating. We've pretty much perfected several recipes from adobo trout to a simple grilled trout, yum!

FISH ON!!! three beautiful rainbow trout!
total weight: 5.5 lbs.
the 2008 storm season is here but, that just means i'll be having to add funky yellow rain pants(for some reason rain pants typically only come in this color) to my wardrobe because, unless the rain and wind is accompanied by bolts of lightning, i'll be fishing one of the beautiful lakes nearest to me on one of the two days of my weekend. .jpg)
bait used: orange powerbait
people have asked us, what is powerbait? i'd be glad to share with you my friends. it is a synthetic, bite-inducing (sometimes not so much), doughy, aromatic (smells scrumptious to fish but to humans, ehhhh, not so much) puddy-like concoction. it comes in many colors and can even be bought in a rainbow color with glitter (cause you know how much trout like glitter). it can be freely formed into any shape (mon even tried shaping it like a fish, ha ha ha, that was funny)...
another form of powerbait is called powereggs. these emulate roe and also emit a yummy smell to attract hungry fish but, they are much less messy and stay on the hook better (powerbait can dissolve if it sits in the water too long or, when fish nibble at it, it can eventually fall off of the hook...this won't happen with powereggs) as they seem to be made out of a very soft rubber but they are much less harmfull to the environment and to the fish than if it were really rubber.
get either one of these to target trout and catfish.

Oak Grove Park, CA

No catch today. :(
Went for the first time today and had 5 lines in the water at once as my brother Jon, his girlfriend Cynthia, and my wife Monica decided to brave the Stockton cold for a chance at catching the recently planted trout. This is a 10 acre pond at the park that is home to the annual Asparagus Festival which is now receiving weekly trout plants through spring. When I got the first line in the water, I was warned that the water was no deeper than 3-4 feet deep and, it may have even been more shallow than that. We used power eggs and power bait in various colors and tossed lines out to various areas of the pond but, after a little more than three hours of waiting, no takers. Oh well...
